AN AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERS PROGRAM AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2015 at the University of California - San Diego, the program is the first of its kind and was conceived to serve both students and the local community.
The vision of AIChE Projects is to open the minds and hearts of engineers to the meaningful impacts that they can have, while providing a stimulating environment for students to grow, both as technical-minded professionals and ethical contributors to society.
The program currently directs six highly unique project teams in different stages of design implementation.
The AIChE Projects program promotes excellence in chemical engineering education and stimulates collaborative efforts among industry and professional societies by promoting team-oriented hands-on experiences for its students alongside local non-profit organizations and industry.
The program also advances the development and exchange of relevant knowledge by providing a hub for students to discuss and critique ideas, problem solve with one another in the building stage, and troubleshoot common problems that arise in the chemical engineering field.
AIChE Projects is whole-heartedly committed to diversity and inclusion within its projects and leadership teams, welcoming all majors regardless of their level of technical experience.

All AIChE Projects members are expected to follow a strike system enforced by AIChE Projects Leadership to hold members accountable and support project progress throughout the school year. Click here to see the General Member Strike System.
AIChE Projects is always looking for new ideas that change the world.
Is there an environmentally-adjacent problem in the world that you think needs fixing? What subject do you think should be researched right now? Is there exciting cutting edge work that can be done by a project team that has yet to be done? We want to hear your ideas and create project teams around them; we want to know what you think needs to be done to make our world better.
Do you have an idea for a new project team? Let us know!
