Uranium Water Treatment Team
Purpose: Provide the Navajo people of the Cameron Chapter clean water through design of an effective small-scale Uranium extraction process.
Method: Experiment with small-scale building materials to develop a medium-scale uranium extraction system.
Benefit: Provides clean water and jobs to those in the Navajo area.
Takeaway: hardware engineering, chemical process modeling, membrane research
Gain Skills as a Student & Professional
From this project, students will gain high environmental ethics that will serve to their advantage in future projects. Students will be able to apply all theoretical concepts they have learned to create a cost-effective, efficient filtration system. Students involved in this project will improve their critical and creative thinking to solve problems that arise as the project develops. It will provide students with exposure to chemical process modeling, separation techniques, and water treatment.
